Inspired by the sliding shoji screens ubiquitous in Japanese architecture, this single-panel version was designed to be used in a small living space as an elegant, mobile spatial divider. The screen is extremely light weight but very stable given its wide stance and appropriately proportioned feet, which makes it extremely easy to move for privacy as needed.
The primary frame components were assembled using wedged mortise and tenon joints, while the interior frame components were connected using standard mortise and tenon joinery. This construction technique allowed for a completely glue-less assembly.
